Connecting nurses interested in neuroscience

Our first education event was convened in Wellington in 2017. We then decided to move the event from November through to earlier in the year, so our next event followed in 2019. With a role transition Adelaide left the organizing team, and headed to alternate pastures. Caroline and Angela formalized the company in 2021 founding the New Zealand Neuroscience Nurses Education Symposia (NZNNES). Unfortunately our 2020 forum scheduled for Auckland was cancelled due to covid restrictions, but since that time, we have held virtual events annually from 2021.

Our team

Caroline Woon

Caroline Woon has become a clinical nurse specialist for Neurosurgery at Wellington Hospital this year after being a neuroscience nurse educator for 11 years.  Her passion is to support excellence in clinical care through education, research and project development. She is currently the ANNA Conference Convenor, the New Zealand National lead, and is a nurse advisor for Brain Tumour New Zealand. Caroline loved the possibility of creating affordable conferences for neuroscience nurses throughout New Zealand and found an amazing partner in Angela sharing the same passion and attention to detail!  When not organising conferences, Caroline loves to travel or you may find her Paddleboarding on a calm day!

Angela Davenport

Angela has worked as an RN for many years (too many to keep a count of!). She was Charge Nurse at Auckland DHB on the neurology/ neurosurgical ward before moving to ABI Rehabilitation initially as Nurse Manager. Angela now works in the Director of Nursing position, supporting the Nurse Specialist team. In 2020, Angela received her clinical doctorate (DHSc) through AUT University, which explored how rehabilitation nurses documented their contribution. This integrated her interest in advancing the specialty practice of rehabilitation nurses. Angela is a conference/webinar junkie and the NZNNES has validated this obsession.
